Battery ChargingCharging batteries properly requires administering the right amount of current at the right voltage. Most good charging equipment automatically regulates these values. Some chargers allow the user to set these values. Both automatic and manual equipment can present difficulties in charging. Tables listed under Charging Flooded lists most of the necessary voltage settings one might need to program a charger. The original instructions for your charging equipment should also be referenced for proper charging. Battery voltage readings are significantly affected by the activity on the battery. Battery voltage readings vary when a battery is being discharged, at rest or being charged (see load voltage). A true reading of battery voltage (open cell voltage) can be taken after a period of 4 hours after all charging and loads have been removed from the battery array.
